Dog import to the UK

Eastern European dogs are finding their way to England.

Lately the British news media is running a major smear campaign about importing dogs into the UK by so called “Unscrupulous Smugglers” for sale. Which they are not, because the dogs are coming into the UK perfectly legally, with passport micro chipped, vaccinated against rabies full worm treatment, VET checked and all the legal papers which are also checked at the border control for legality and all the papers and vaccination, treatment and chip have to be in order to let them through. So, they are bringing them in legally and not smuggling.

Most of these dogs are from Eastern Europe where dog prices are really cheap compare to that of the UK prices. One can pick up a Pure breed dog for £20 pounds or less and even after the required Microchip, the Rabies vaccination, worm treatment, the  passport and VET check, the cost is less than 70 pounds. That same dog in England sells for several hundred or even several thousands of pounds.

The British breeders and their organisation which I am sure is the main pushers of these smear campaigns are rightfully upset because it’s members are loosing thousands of pounds in profit.

Take the English bulldogs for an example. Real ugly dog with lots of health problems. They are selling an average of about £2,000 pounds in the UK and for about £200 pounds in Eastern Europe.

Also the French bulldog. Another ugly dog with lots of health problems that sells upwards of £6,000 pounds and can be bought in Eastern Europe for around £200 pounds.

The importers bring them in legally and sell them for half the price of a British breeder. The buyers choice is obvious. Go for the cheaper one and get the same or better.

The British breeder is upset because their dog isn’t selling or they drastically have to lower the price to compete.

The typical Smear Campaign starts with say a British dog saloon nice and fluff and butterflies flying over a dog’s head that is being bathed and combed and when the grooming is done, people are smelling and stroking a jumpy happy good smelling dog. All done in light and pastel colors and butterfly s flying over it’s head. Psychological lead in, lasts about 1 minute.

The next segment might be a 3 second run of the highway showing mostly trucks and bigger vehicles, than a few seconds of mostly black and white segment of an Eastern European farmette where some puppies run around outside among the chicken and ducks and other animals as normal there. Another psychological lead in but only a few seconds long,  that don’t leave anything but the surround of the farmette in the viewer’s mind.

The music change and they show a van carrying these pups. The film crew who had called the advert as genuine buyers now using hidden cameras, meet with these importers at some roadside lay-by (predicting illegal activity) looking at he dogs and showing the inside of the van where the cages with the pups in them are.  All dark because of the lack of bright light inside the van. Psychological effect on the viewer.

I am sure you get the picture. the reporter talks and saying how these dogs are kept over there outside and in the barn, walking among chicken shit and dirt and sleeping rough in the barn and not in a nice and cosy doggie bed inside someones kitchen like in the UK.

The truth is these are nothing but lies. They should have shown how happy and healthy the dogs are over there running freely, chasing real or imaginary prey and playing and rolling with each other in the dirt. Should have painted just as nice and positive picture with the green hills and the green grass, cute chicken and dog play, playful puppies jumping up on the film crew and cuddling, which would have truly mirrored the truth.

(Instead they’ve decided to bend the truth in order for a negative story which of course sells much better, because the viewers just love to see gore and negative). Sick.

Most of those dogs are much healthier than the dogs one buys from a UK pet store or from puppy farms. It’s a Well known  fact that British puppy farms have major health issues and many of the pet stores are selling their sick dogs from these puppy farms.

I was talking to an animal inspector the other day and he said the stores have major health issues among the pets they are selling but they can’t do nothing about. Yet the smear campaign that is instigated by the breeders and their organisation are not talking about that fact.

So, the British customer is totally confused of who to buy a pet from.
Their best buying option is just to go to any individual pet owner that have pets for sale and buy from them, because those are the ones who truly love their pets and care for them. Leave the breeders with their overly expensive prices.

The other is the KC registration craze. Useless!! You pay for something that you are not going to benefit from. Buying a dog that is KC registered versus buying one that is not, will save you several hundred Pounds. If you want to save more, buy an import dog.
