How to sell on Amazon-The limitations.

The limitations of selling on Amazon

Amazon is sort of an alternative to Ebay as far as selling your used stuff there and many people would switch to it if it didn’t have  a major limitation for selling.

The limitation is this. Unless you open an Amazon Premier account, you simply can’t enter the correct details of what you want to sell. A premier account cost about $29 pounds per month and if you are not a regular seller there you loose more than you gain.

Amazon has pre-made (pre-filled) forms for standard account holder sellers. These forms represent data that is already in the Amazon database. Meaning, if someone with a premier account had listed and sold an item you will be using the headline and the photo of that item even though it will not represent yours to the T. You can’t enter your own info and can’t upload a photo of your item

Say you have an Iphone that is locked to a carrier. If a premium account holder had not listed an Iphone for sale with that carrier, than your description will be false because you can not edit the data.

I was going to sell a telephone that is locked to a carrier. Amazon only had unlocked phones in it’s database of this one particular phone and I had to use that as the info for mine. So, my listing page started as ” Unlocked Samsung ……” when in fact mine was supposed to start as “Samsung …….. on Orange”.

There is a description section where you can describe your item but that is hard to find on amazon. (at least I am always having a hard time to find the link to it). When a potential buyer is looking at a listing they most likely will not click on that link because 1; it’s hard to find, 2nd; they don’t read it through.

The phone was sold the next day, but when I’ve sent the thank you email to the buyer pointing out the phone is not unlocked he cancelled his purchase. I had wrote to Amazon about this and they’ve sent me a generic email stating I have to have a premier account in order to have the exact details of my phone listed. What a bummer!!!

So as of now, if you are not a premier account holder, your listings will most likely be false and you will have some cancellations on your sales.

The best to do, as soon as your listing sells you have to write to the buyer and point out these discrepancies before you post an item to avoid extra postage and return postage fees.
