LaRedoute is a typical French fashion store chain that is a pain is the butt to order from. As big as they are the customer service rudeness matching the size.
Orders canceled without letting the customer know. The software they are using (according to customer service) automatically rejects credit cards so the order is canceled without even letting the customer know.
I’ve placed an order and got the verification email with all the ordered items listed and a note about their team is carefully packing the items as we speak. (reading their verification email)
A couple of weeks have passed and none arrived and when I called them on the phone they are telling me “ohh, the order has been cancelled because the software could not verify my Visa card my address” and me being on this planet. DUH… .
On the phone they’ve passed me from one “department” to another while speaking to the fifth person finally they were able to identify me -over the phone- mind you.
My wife was also trying to order, and the mandatory LaRedoute rejection I phoned them up trying to find out what’s happening tehy asked for her to speak to. Of course she doesn’t speak English or French and although she was sitting next to me ad with her limited English she was trying to verify her identity they’ve simple refused her order. If someone don’t speak the language (French or English I suppose) don’t even try to order from them as just about a 100% certain your order will not be happening no matter what.
And regardless of all this and all the negative forum comments they are a very large and successful retailer. Other companies no matter how hard they try, go under for one reason or another, but this company despite all it’s nastiness survives.
Not because of their marketing technique or nasty customer service, but because they’ve picked a fashionable line of clothing and accessories and people like it.
As this example shows, no matter how rude and nasty you are towards your would be customers, if you have a line of products that looks good and attractive you can grow your business.
