Diabetes is chronic by nature only treatments are available, as we don’t know of any cure for it yet.

The symptoms and signs of diabetes developing slowly and steadily and when they become more severe and noticeable they can lead to serious other complications.

 

 

 

The main symptoms and signs are

· Increased thirst

· Increase in appetite or excessive hunger

· Increased urination, especially at night

· Weight fluctuation up or down which is unexplained

· Blurred or unclear vision

· Sores and wounds that don’t heal

· Itchy and dry skin

In cases that are more complicated it can lead to

· Blindness

· Kidney failure

· Nerve damage

· Macro or micro vascular diseases.

· Micro vascular disease is related to the small blood vessels.

· Macro vascular disease is related to the hardening and narrowing of the arteries and  can lead to strokes and heart attacks

Diabetes can be classified into two types. Type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is mainly due to the stopping of the production of insulin which is due to autoimmune system of the body, it destroys the beta cells of the pancreas which are responsible for production of  insulin.

Type 1 diabetes is also known as insulin dependent diabetes mellitus because insulin is a must dose over here. It is also by the name of Juvenile diabetes because it’s more common among teenagers and young adults.

Type 2 is due to low production of insulin or the receptors of the cells not reacting with the insulin produced. This condition is known as insulin resistance. Here the body secretes more and more insulin rigorously and so it develops a resistance by itself.

The good news about diabetes is that it can be controlled or maintained naturally by taking well balanced diet, doing regular exercise.

Balanced diet in the sense diet should be rich in nutrition. For diabetes, diet which is rich in fiber is recommended. Examples of diet rich in fiber are carrot, broccoli, peas, beans, apples, bananas, apricot, dates.
