Where is my website

How do you know where your website is ranking? (where is it on the web) In general you know roughly where , but because the search engines localised algorithm you never know for sure. One of my site ranks for a lot of keywords and sentences (phrases) on the first page in the UK.

The site also must have first page rankings in some other countries too because it gets views from them, but I have no idea of their rank there.

As a website owner and builder, you’ll never exactly know how your site ranks worldwide. Meaning, in other countries. There is no way to check it. Yeah there is alexa and such but it’s worthless unless your site ranks somewhere in the top 100,000 websites in the world. (it’ll show your localised result only in your own country)

There are other rank checking sites and software, but again they are localised and only searching and showing results in the country where the website is located. However if your site is popular in a country and get somewhere below the 200,000 thousand mark (meaning; your website is in the top 200,000 sites in the given country, or in the world, as far as that country is concerned, ” according to that particular ranking service only”), than they’ll start showing the rank. (mark means Viewers)

The best way to check is you have to call relatives and friends and ask them to check it for you. No other way of checking it as of this writing.

So, how to build a website for worldwide audience? Don’t know! You just build it for local and do your best. If your product has worldwide appeal, they’ll find it because the way the search engines algorithm works. They display the locals first and if there is none suitable than they’ll display others. Meaning if you search for how to stop migraines in the UK, you get the local results for that country first followed by worldwide.  You search for the same in the USA and you’ll get the US results first followed by the worldwide ones.
