Skype is using too much memory
Skype is famous for using too much memory while running on your computer. It can bog down your computer to something like a slow motion movie.
There is an application you can use to reduce skype memory usage to about a tenth of what it using now.
There are also other methods like un-check skype extras in the skype settings or don’t start skype until you are ready to use it. But than what good does it do if people can’t connect with you.
The script I am talking about to reduce skype memory usage is very easy to use.
You can download it here Reduce Skype Memory Use
All you have to do is just download it and save it on your computer. Once there, you need to download autoit to make it an .exe file extension. Here is the download link autoit.
Install the program, start it up by clicking on “Compile script to exe” and when the screen is up click on the top browse button to find the saved script and than just under it write the new name for it. Something like skypememoryreducer.exe, and than click on the Convert button. (I had to erase the last line in the script in order for it to compile and you might have to delete the last line in the script too if don’t compile for some reason)
How to delete it? Just open it up in notepad and erase the last line and save it.
Your new skypememoryreducer.exe file will be saved in the same directory as your original script.
Once it’s done, you can start it up manually by double clicking on it every time you start your computer, or put it in the startup folder to start it automatically when your computer starts.
On my computer the skype memory use went down to less than ten percent while idle and to about a third when in use.
If your Skype is using too much memory this great little app can help you and you know there is no virus in it because you can see the script before you compile it.
