Google instant limiting results

Google’s new instant search results are really that good for online marketing or is it limiting a websites radius?  How a webmaster will  do SEO  (search engine optimisation) for a global audience? Would they have to buy local domain names?

Google instant is when you start typing in your search words and after each letter ten suggestion words will show under the search box.  Nothing is wrong with that because basically it’s trying to help you to get to your search faster but it’s bad for websites geared towards global markets.

The suggestions that are given are all displaying different results for different countries. Look at these results for the USA and Canada

United States      Canada

amazon…………air canada
best buy……….bmo
craigslist……..canadian tire
dictionary……..dictionary
ebay…………..ebay
facebook……….facebook
gmail………….gmail
hotmail………..hotmail
ikea…………..ikea
jet blue……….job bank
kohls………….kijiji
lowes………….lotto max
mapquest……….mapquest
netflix………..nhl
orbitz…………osap
pandora………..paypal
quotes…………quotes
rei……………rogers
sears………….skype
target…………tsn
usps…………..utube
verizon………..via rail
weather………..walmart
xbox…………..xbox
yahoo………….youtube
zillow…………zellers

this clearly shows the limitations of  your marketing possibilities. While I am sitting in the UK,  I won’t be given the option of searching the US market if I want to because all my searches will be given according to the UK market.

This is bad for global growth of a website as millions of people will choose one of  the displayed choices. The search engines war and especially google as the most dominant player among them will localise just about every website.

While the Internet should be global, these efforts will put limitations on that. Perhaps there should be an option given to people. The option of choosing what region do they want to search. Say I want to search  for solar generator, or local: solar generator.

How simple that choice would be to implement. While this choice would help the global economy it would also help smaller websites  (because many of them won’t be found globally unless someone is specifically searching for them)  and also help the consumers if they can’t find what they are looking for in their local market.

  1. I think this post was probably a sweet start to a potential series of blog posts about this topic. So many writers pretend to know what they’re talking about when it comes to this area and really, very few people actually get it. You seem to understand it though, so I think you ought to run with it. Thanks a lot!

  2. Google have been criticised again for collecting emails, passwords, personal details from open wifi setups while they were collecting for Street View. That was downright wrong of them and it’s becoming more difficult to understand what they mean now by ‘do no evil’…

  3. Your ideas are awesome. Your weblog, not so significantly. I do not want to disrespect you, just hear me out. Include somewhat one thing below. What youre saying is indeed significant itd be a shame if people missed it since they were bored to death. May possibly be considered a video or even a website link to anything as powerful since the subject matter. Only a suggestion.
