What Helps Migraine Headaches

What helps migraine headaches

When I used to have my migraines I’ve had them for 4 to 5 days per week, every week, without a fail. Since my childhood I was suffering from migraines.

Now I don’t have the pain anymore. A few years ago I had stumbled upon a treatment that completely keeps it under control and I can now live without pain as long as I am taking it every day.

But the things that helped me in the past was;

Sleeping of course.
Laying down closing my eyes and not think of anything.
Sitting on the sofa or in a comfortable chair just looking out of my head (so to speak) not thinking of anything.
Applying pressure to the temple area.
Wearing a hat covering my eyes. (kept a slight pressure on the eye ball)
Kneeling, with my head on my knees.
Laying in bed twisting my body and legs to stretch.
Plugging my nose in with cotton swabs.
Cupping my hands, keeping it in front of my nose and breathing in the warm air I had breath out. (this had eased the pain all the time but only for the duration)
Slurping coca cola. (slurp it very slightly for the cola to hit my palett and than slowly swallow it) -this one worked all the time, but usually only for the duration of the act, but every once in the while if I kept on doing it for 20-30 minutes it was able to stop the pain completely.
Lightly pressuring my eyes during the pain. (I think this one had more of a psychological effect, but it helped).
Inhaling air through my mouth and slowly blowing it out through my nose, allowing it to warm while blowing out. (this one always worked, but only temporarily)

I was never able to give up smoking and I also drink a lot of coffee. I am not a vegetarian and I like fried and greasy food. I don’t drink alcohol tho and never had used illegal drugs.

I am not a sickly person and never had taken any medicine other than for an occasional cold and the pain killers I took for my migraines which was either over the counter (most of the time) but sometimes I took prescription pain killers the doctor prescribed. None of them were any use to me.

Nothing had ever helped me until I had found the treatment by chance. I had it tested several times by stopping it for a week or two and the pain always came back. Taking it again, the pain had stopped. I am still taking it every day to avoid the pain. It’ll be 4 years in September of 2011 since I have  started it.

But of course the best medicine is prevention! But, what to prevent, when migraine can be triggered by just about anything.
